New method for locating Apple devices (recently presented at WWDC) - an alternative to 'Find my iPhone'

This article explains how Apple provides users with the ability to find their offline devices in a private and secure manner. Apple has implemented an interesting approach to device location management, using Bluetooth technology that does not require direct communication with Apple’s servers. The main goal of this technology is to ensure user privacy. Apple devices communicate with each other using beacons and encrypted identifiers, which makes it impossible to directly link them to a user’s account. Therefore, when a device is lost, nearby Apple devices can assist in locating it by sending encrypted signals to Apple without the knowledge of their owners. This means users can feel secure knowing that their personal data is protected during the device location process.
