Can Apple Watch Ultra Replace iPhone? (film, 12 minutes)
Shervin Shares began his journey with the Apple Watch Ultra by providing a detailed account of a 24-hour battery test. After charging the watch to 100%, Shervin aimed to monitor how long the battery would last during a full day of use and sleep. His first night was interesting, as the watch only used 9% of the battery over 6 hours of sleep. He woke up with 85% charge and immediately started testing cellular functionality, moving around the city and performing various tasks. Shervin utilized Apple Pay to purchase batteries from CVS and coffee, showcasing how mobile payments are remarkably efficient and convenient in everyday situations.
Throughout the day, Shervin noticed a decline in battery life as he used navigation, listened to music, and replied to messages. While cellular connectivity was consistently available, he experienced issues with Siri, whose responses can be quite slow, which can be frustrating. Using the Apple Watch at a quick pace highlighted the challenges users may face when the watch is used intensively throughout the day. Returning to the home screen and app performance were not always smooth, limiting the overall user experience.
While running, Shervin tested the audio option and noted a continued drop in battery percentage. The watch performed decently, but streaming music turned out to be problematic; after one full song, there were difficulties in restarting. Starting at 48%, battery life quickly dropped to 38% following the run. Ultimately, despite its many advantages, Shervin noted that it is impossible to achieve a full day on a single charge if one uses the device's features intensively.
On the day Shervin conducted his tests, he concluded that the Apple Watch Ultra, while being a great everyday companion, requires a thoughtful energy management strategy. After nearly an entire day of usage with all available functions, the battery began to deplete significantly. By the end, the watch indicated that only 12% battery remained, forcing Shervin to seek a charging point.
In summary, Shervin found the Apple Watch Ultra to be an excellent device but not one that could survive a full 24 hours of heavy usage without a charge. He encourages viewers to subscribe to the channel and follow his reviews for more information on this device and other tech. Current video statistics show that the film has garnered 1,682,641 views and 23,944 likes, reflecting its popularity among users.

Okay, this is the very first night with the Apple watch ultra here It's now fully charged if we swipe up here You can see that the battery is a hundred percent see the LEDs are on right now And we are gonna wear it and see how long does the battery last over the next 24 hours I will sleep with it tonight, so it will be sleep tracking me all night I'm gonna make sure it's nice and tight But the first night is complete it used about nine percent battery over the night I slept for like five six hours not much because we're gonna finish a video that can give me like seven to ten nights of Just sleep tracking if I really wanted to just use it for that. It is currently in 942 a.m. And I have an 85% battery. I just woke up just kidding. It's been an hour and a half I'm now going to turn off my iPhone here. That's going to force the cellular to work on my Apple watch ultra We're gonna go throughout the day see how much the battery gets drained just by using cellular and walking around the city Using maps buying things and living a regular day in the life of the Apple watch Cannot survive an entire day today Siri turn off the living room light And And if I had a smart lock I would use that too now we can head out all right We are 82% battery. I have about one to two cellular bars on my Apple watch right now We are on Verizon cellular with the Apple watch ultra We're gonna go around town and see how long will this battery last and looking at my sleep I slept about six hours last night from 1 30 to 7 30 a.m. Got an hour and 41 minutes of REM 45 minutes of deep I need headphones to listen to music while I'm using my Apple watch today here in New York City We don't have a lot of time, and I just got the new AirPods Pro 2 Gen 2 Hope I can set it up with my Apple watch. I might actually need to use an iPhone, so I'm actually pairing it Uh-oh it worked. It's connected now so the AirPods Pro are connected And I didn't need to use an iPhone to set it up. That's pretty neat play the most popular Kygo song All right, so now it is playing Kygo into my headphones. This is all being streamed via cellular Yep, so it looks like Spotify works. It's on Apple watch mode It's playing on my Apple watch and our mic is actually running out of battery and sometimes you do need to buy things from like A regular convenience store, so we're gonna head to CVS right now and go ahead and buy some double-a batteries These are all the double A's all right. Let's do this So I think they take Apple pay here Boom Obviously Apple pay is pretty much prolific you can use it almost every single store that you go to We were able to buy those batteries very easily, but the next question is I still haven't had my third cup of morning coffee For today, can I go buy a coffee at a coffee shop with Apple pay? So we're gonna head over to this place called blank Street. They have Chamberlain coffee for today I already put it in my calendar for today, which makes it super easy I can go ahead and just tap on it and it has the address and we want to get directions on how to get There since we are in New York City. We're gonna take you subway, and it says 28 minutes It's getting me transit directions be safe, of course It's telling us the N or the R with an 11-minute walk and a 5-minute walk after What are other choices we could take the bus the sick get us navigation? So we need to walk to Times Square now, we're using navigation, right? This is on cellular We've got maps and navigation with driving biking and public transit all on here One of my favorite things about the subway system is that you can use Apple pay There's an express transit mode where you can automatically set it up. So I don't need to tap anything I literally just tap my watch it can be off and facing down and it'll work perfectly fine Even if my watch dies I still get like two to three hours more where I can still use Apple pay to pay for this and get through the subway So, let's go Yeah, you can use Apple pay on the subway. It's really neat So I just got a message on my watch and I'm gonna reply I have two options I can use Siri or I can Type on my watch. I typically like this talk, but sometimes it can be that can be like prone to error So I'll use a type just to be more accurate. I use the swipe keyboard one thing I did notice on the Apple watch transit versus Google Maps transit is that it actually doesn't show me how many stops I'm taking on Google Maps. I'll see like seven stops 17 minutes So I didn't see that on the Apple watch But it does show me the previous stop Before the one I need to get off at and then Google Maps also tells you which exit to take so like this is one Of like four different exits Whereas the Apple watch just says exit at Prince Street, so I don't really know which side we're on We'll just have to go up and out and see which direction we need to take from here All right We just exited the subway and now I'm gonna rotate a little bit here to see which way we need to walk the GPS pretty Quickly figured out which direction I'm facing. All right, so it is now 11 an hour 68% battery We've got full bars set a timer for one hour I'm gonna use Siri to set a timer and something I've noticed that I have a lot of issues Sometimes it's super slow. I asked Siri to do something She says she's on it or he says he's on it still on it and it's just like I don't have time for this I am an impatient millennial and it says I'm having trouble with connection. Please try again later But when I come up here, it's three to four bars of full status We're connected. So I don't know if this is Verizon's fault for just not working I'm gonna try to restart my watch to see if that fixes it Can I get that I want something nutty and the Halloween is happening do you guys take Apple pay? Alright, awesome Plan for a run is now two hours earlier, and I don't know if we have time to go back to get running shoes So I'm gonna do a phone call. Let's see what the audio quality is like So we are calling her right now. Let's see if it actually works as you can see have three balls bars of cellular. Oh Yeah, is the audio sound really good It's really that good There's cars driving by people yelling Navigate to Columbus Circle via transit. All right, it's gonna get us to print transit direction So we can see which subway we need to take. It's loading loading. All right, we're gonna take the D It's about four minute walk away. It's a 20 minute travel time So we are running a little bit late and I want to take a city bike But it says you need a scan to unlock and sadly the Apple watch does not have a camera So there might I don't know. Maybe I can use my credit card, but that has to take Apple pay We already ate the Apple so really hungry. Honestly, we're not gonna be able to use Apple pay anymore. I Can't use the city bike sadly I hopefully they'll have like a thing where I can tap and then just go but that technology is not here yet right now So we're walking instead. My Venmo is at Shervin since we're out of money. I don't have Apple pay anymore Feel free to send me some cash. We got about an hour run maybe at most and let's see how much it drains this battery So we got three bars 53% battery, I think we might be able to go until like 4 5 p.m But then I know we'll need to charge this watch. So maybe I should have charged it in the morning after I slept So what's really neat about the Apple watch ultra has a new precision start mode So I'm going to be able to press the action button to start the workout It's gonna wait to see if it's got GPS and then once it does I can press the precision start whenever I'm ready to go I don't need to wait for the 3 2 1 countdown and that will just get me more accurate times when I'm running and I can actually be on par with all my Garmin Coros friends because they keep giving me crap because I'm using an Apple watch and Running with that, but I think the Apple watch is the best running watch out there Maybe I'm just an Apple fan, but who cares? Shadow on the battlefield a survivor So I'm here with Lucy and Zeb and we're about to do a I'm about to do their warm-up and they're gonna run like crazy And while we're running I'm gonna stream Spotify or Apple music from the watch using cellular. I'm about 48% right now We have three bars of connection and we're gonna see how much battery it gets used in this like 40 30 to 40 minute run 48% right now. So let's see what happens after the end of the run. I just ran 6.3 6.2 miles Zone 4 or 5 heart rate. I died. I was trying to keep up with these elite athletes I couldn't do it and I had streaming music I was doing Spotify, but after one song it would stop and I had to like restart the app every time I'd only play one song at a time. I think Apple is making their app buggy on purpose, but Apple music worked fine I was streaming Kygo batteries now at 38% so I'm from 48 I Navigate to the nearest Chipotle. Oh, it's literally right there. I can see the sign I could have just looked up instead of on my watch Apple pay at Chipotle, but like rewards programs It's like a rewards program at Chipotle I can't scan my reward and I can't get my points because I don't have my phone So that's one of the downsides of using an Apple watch only we got this little Chipotle bowl paid with foam Apple pay it is almost 3 p.m. Right now and you watch shows 21% so the battery is dying pretty fast That's about five hours already in them and it's gonna turn off So I probably need to turn on low power mode or find a charger Can't even go a full day with like working out for an hour using transit Apple pay it seems like even the Apple watch ultra can't be a one-stop shop for an entire day of battery I did sleep with it last night. So I did start with 80% I wonder if I kept that extra 20% Maybe I'd be able to go the entire day into like 5 or 6 p.m. Like an end of a workday or if I was staying in an office, maybe the Wi-Fi connection from the Apple watch to the Wi-Fi would allow me to have a longer battery life There's a lot of factors at play but just roaming around the city on cellular and sleeping with it at night It's really tough to really go a 24 hour period just the Apple watch battery As you can see, it's 305 right now. And if we look we're at 20% battery We've got the little icon right there that I need to charge the watch if I wanted to I got turn on low power mode But we're trying to put this to the test. We're unable to use Apple pay anymore. I'm gonna get more Apple pay Oh, can I use Apple pay? All right, let's do it This right here is an endless supply of buy whatever you want anywhere. So you navigate to catch an ice cream So we just had our Chipotle dinner now, we're gonna go get dessert And then could I just get the cookie dough, please Oh You guys take Apple pay, all right, here you go And it works, okay cool Oh Works. All right. So just 4 p.m. Now and we're at 12% battery So we gotta head home very soon or else this watch is gonna die We're going to a cash only place and I need to get cash. So we got to find the nearest ATM So we're now at Bank of America and you actually don't need your card to get in Jeez, welcome to New York City. We can just use Apple pay. So all we got to do here is find our card on the watch And we're gonna awkwardly scan it right there. We just pull out some cash Watch got us cash. Let's go. All right Apple pay on subway. It's 440 right now I'm at 6% battery and at last charged 100% at 10 10 p.m. Last night So this is with sleep tracking Cellular on right when I left the house at 10 a.m. This morning. Yeah, we've been using a heavy usage maps directions Apple pay and streaming music while tracking my workout and heart rate. So clearly if you're doing all these activities It's tough to get a full 24 hour battery on the Apple watch ultra, but it's almost there I don't think I could use this as my sole daily driver There's it's a little bit slow right when I'm trying to ask Siri questions Like sometimes it doesn't work connection isn't always great Disconnects and the apps are a little bit buggy whereas on the iPhone I know that like 99% of the time it works We try to test it out see if this could help minimize my screen time usage It was interesting as valuable But I think the maximum time I would do with the ultra is probably like six to seven hours a day And then knowing that I'm gonna be in contact with my phone so that we can upload any other data that I need to Oh Subscribe and try and post notifications if you want to see more videos just like this Make sure to go watch my review where I did the Apple watch series 7 right here mustache out
